Setting Up a Work Email on Android (Gmail / Outlook App)
A step-by-step guide to connecting your work email to your phone or tablet using SSL/TLS security.
To make sure you don't miss any important messages or leads when you're away from the office, it's essential to set up your work email on your phone. The process is simple and can be done using free apps Gmail ή Microsoft Outlook that you already have on your device, using the IMAP protocol for full synchronization.
Start Adding an Account
Open the email app of your choice (Gmail or Outlook) and follow these initial steps:
- If you use Gmail: Tap your profile photo in the upper right corner, then select Add another account and then press Other.
- If you're using Outlook: Tap your profile icon in the top-left corner, then the gear icon Settings, select Add an email account and then Add an email account.

Entering Information and Selecting IMAP
In the next step, the system will ask you for your address and account type:
- Enter your full company email address (e.g.,.
[email protected]). - When asked about the account type, select Personal (IMAP). (Avoid using POP3, as it does not synchronize your Sent and other folders with your computer.).
- Enter the Password your email address and click Next.

Manual Server Configuration
In many cases, automatic adjustment fails. Press Manual Setup and enter the following technical information provided to you by Skynetix:
| Setting | Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) | Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) |
|---|---|---|
| Server / Hostname | mail.yoursite.gr (or the server we provided you with) |
mail.yoursite.gr (same as the incoming one) |
| Safety Type | SSL/TLS | STARTTLS (or SSL/TLS) |
| Port | 993 | 587 (or 465 for SSL) |
Note: In the “Username” field of the settings, make sure it says your entire email and not just the name before the @. Click Next so that the review and finalization can take place.
In the final step of the installation, the app will ask you for a Name (Your Name). This is the name your customers will see in their inbox when they receive an email from you. Don’t leave it blank or use your email address. Enter your first and last name and your company name, e.g.,. George Papadopoulos | Skynetix, so you can project total professionalism from the very first moment!
If you get stuck while checking the settings, the 99% error is usually caused by the security option or the port. Many Android phones automatically select “None” (No security) and port 143. This will be rejected by our secure servers. Correct this manually by changing the security setting to SSL/TLS and the port to 993 for incoming mail.
