How to change or add a photo (Image/Gallery)
Learn how to replace individual images and how to manage photo galleries with Elementor.
Adding and changing visual content in Elementor is done through a very user-friendly interface. Whether it’s a simple image in a block or a complex gallery featuring photos of your projects or products, managing them takes just a few steps.
Changing a Single Image (Image Widget)
To change an existing photo on a page, follow these steps:
- Open the page in Elementor (by clicking Editing with Elementor (on the top bar).
- Click on the photo you want to replace. The widget settings will appear in the left panel. Image.
- Hover your mouse over the thumbnail on the left and click the button Select Image (Choose Image).
- In the window that opens, you can either select a photo that is already in the Media Library, or go to the tab Uploading Files and drag your new photo from your computer.
- Click the blue button Inserting Media (Select / Insert Media) bottom right.

Photo Collection Management (Gallery Widget)
If the item you want to edit is a gallery (a collection of photos), the process is slightly different:
- Click on "Gallery." In the left panel, you'll see the option Gallery Images.
- Click the icon with the pen (Edit) at the top of the list of images.
- In the window that opens, you can click the “X” on top of whichever photo you want to remove.
- To add new ones, click the menu Add to Gallery On the left, select or upload the new photos and tap Add to collection bottom right.
- You can change the order of the photos by simply drag-and-drop (drag). Once you're done, click Update Gallery (Insert / Update Gallery).
Never post photos with names like IMG_2026_06_01.jpg. Before uploading them to WordPress, rename them using Latin characters and hyphens to describe their content (e.g.,. topothetisi-koufomaton-athens.jpg). This greatly helps Google understand what your site is about and boost your ranking in image search results.

Save Changes
Just as with text, in order for the changes to be visible to the public:
- Click the green button Update in the lower-left corner of Elementor.
- As soon as the button turns gray, your new photos are live!
Never upload photos directly from your cell phone or a professional camera, as their size (often 5MB to 15MB each) will significantly slow down your site. Before uploading them, run them through a free online compression tool such as TinyPNG.com or the ILoveIMG.com, making sure their weight does not exceed 150 KB – 200 KB and their shape should preferably be .webp or .jpg.
