Learn how to set up a newsletter campaign correctly, write subject lines that boost the open rate, and design an email that drives sales.
The Email Marketing remains the channel with the highest ROI (Return on Investment) in the digital world. The Mailchimp It is the most popular platform worldwide for getting started, as it combines a powerful design environment with automation and analytics tools. Let’s see how you can create your first professional campaign.
Setting Recipients & Sender (To & From)
Log in to Mailchimp, then click the button Create in the left-hand menu and select Regular Email. In the checklist that appears, start with the campaign's basic identifying information:
- To (Recipients): Select your audience. If you want maximum performance, use Segments (Audience Segments) so that you can send the email, for example, only to those who have made a purchase in the last month.
- From (Sender): Enter your company name and a professional email address (e.g.,. [email protected]). Avoid email addresses ending in @gmail.com because they'll end up in your spam folder.

Writing Headlines & Preview Text (The “Key” to Clicks)
The Subject Line It's the most important factor in determining whether the recipient will open your email or delete it right away. Right next to it, fill in the Preview Text, that is, the short explanatory line that appears in the inbox immediately after the subject line.
Use the button Merge Tags in Mailchimp to include the customer's first name in the subject line or in the body of the email (e.g.,. *|FNAME|*, (Check out our offers!). Personalized emails have an open rate that is up to 20% higher.
Template Design (Content Builder)
Click Email Design. Mailchimp has a powerful “drag-and-drop” builder. Choose a clean template and structure it as follows:

Test Email & Verification
Before you click the final "Send" button, it's essential to check for any errors that could damage your company's reputation:
- Send a Test Email: From the menu in the upper right corner, select Preview & Test > Send a test email. Send it to yourself and open it both from your computer and from your cell phone to make sure it is responsive.
- Link Check: Click on all the buttons and images in the test email to make sure they lead to the correct pages and don't cause any errors.
Mailchimp automatically inserts the unsubscribe link into the footer *|UNSUB|*. Do not try to delete or hide it. Having a clear unsubscribe button is required by GDPR regulations, and it also protects your domain’s reputation. If users can’t find an “Unsubscribe” button, they’ll “Report Spam,” which will ruin your future deliverability.
